The Brisbane Club, The Beat and Hey Chica

Find out the benefits of becoming a member of The Brisbane Club

The Brisbane club has been around since 1903. It is a place where people can come together to enjoy cricket and AFL. The club also hosts events and has great facilities.

During the 1800s it was considered good manners for men to have a home, office and club. This is because each venue offered a different experience for the men.

The Marquee Bar

Designed with an air of Great Gatsby glamour, the Marquee bar brings a touch of exclusive club to Brunswick Street Mall. Featuring silk ceiling drapes, Catherine Martin designer wallpaper and a selection of pressed metal mirrors, the space is simply dazzling. The bar offers a range of express cocktails on tap, mainstream and craft beers and high-end spirits at standard prices. The menu features a selection of gourmet pizzas and mains to ward off hunger while you sip on your cocktail.

The club prides itself on epicurean excellence and the team here will be more than happy to work with you to create an exemplary food and drinks package for any event. In addition, the club’s wine cellars offer a vast selection of premium and coveted wines that are sure to impress any serious wine connoisseur.

With over three bars and plenty of seating options, the Brisbane Club is the perfect place to catch up with your mates or relax before a night out. They also have a number of regular events including Thursday night student night (featuring veteran drag queens Vollie LaVont and Luna Thicc), ladies night on Friday and Mimosa Saturdays. They also offer a range of functions including wedding venues, conference facilities and more.

The Beat

If you're into the club scene, The Beat is a must-visit. You'll find drag queens and live DJs all night long at this Fortitude Valley hot spot. There are also a ton of promotions and events, from jelly wrestling each Wednesday to a monthly member's night with free drinks and giveaways. The staff at the Brisbane Club are always on hand to help you out with any questions or concerns.

It was a time of solidarity when the openly gay bars Terminus and The Beat were threatened with closure under Queensland's anti-gay laws. Other gay clubs around the country rallied in support, placing ads in their bars and holding raffles to win bus trips to Brisbane.

The club's six function rooms are suitable for all types of celebrations. The President's Room is furnished with antiques and artworks, while the Members Dining Room has a high vaulted ceiling. There are also a variety of private rooms that can accommodate small and intimate gatherings.

The club offers a wide selection of food and beverage options, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and cocktails. It is also a great place to host a business meeting. The staff at the Brisbane Club can help you plan your event and recommend the best catering options. They can also provide menu tastings for wedding bookings.

The Nightclub

There’s nothing quite like a night club to get you dancing the night away. Brisbane’s nightlife scene is filled with upscale bars with rich atmospheres and unique drinks. Whether you want to kick back with a beer or enjoy some live music, there’s something for everyone. To avoid a disastrous night out, it’s best to have a designated driver or plan a way to get home safely.

There are plenty of upscale nightclubs in Brisbane, including Prohibition, a speakeasy-style club in the heart of Fortitude Valley. Its entrance is reminiscent of Broadway shows and musicals, with a large square bar as the central pillar. The club’s interiors are seasoned with organic motifs and recycled materials, making it the perfect place to drink.

Another great nightclub in Brisbane is the H Lounge, a huge venue that features a massive dance floor and state-of-the-art lighting. It also hosts local and guest DJs from all over the world. The music is a mix of house, techno, and other styles.

There’s also a bar with a variety of wines and spirits. It’s a perfect place to hang out with friends and relax after a long day at work. The atmosphere is laidback, but the music will keep you dancing all night. In addition, you can try the many different food options at the restaurant.

Hey Chica!

Hey Chica is the newest late night spot to hit Brunswick Street Mall and it brings Latin American inspired cocktails, food and samba vibes right into the heart of Brissy. The latest project from Hallmark Group, the group behind crowd favourites Retro's Cocktail Lounge, Lefty's Music Hall and Finn McCool's Irish Bar, is the closest thing you'll get to Havana without a passport.

The kaleidoscope of colour, unique decor and ambient lighting, plus a curated list of beverages makes Hey Chica a major nightlife destination. Inspired by neighbourhood street party fiestas, the venue celebrates Latin American culture with weekly entertainment and a diverse menu of share plates. From crispy chicharron (pork bites with sofrito mayo and plantain chips) to kingfish ceviche and lamb ondigas, there's plenty to fuel your boogie.

The bouncer who turned Papuan-Australian woman Moale James away from the club for her facial tattoos was following Queensland's liquor laws, which require venues to refuse entry to people wearing items associated with criminal organisations like bike gangs. In a private message to Ms James, the management of Hey Chica said they were sorry for any 'unintended distress' but they would not change their policy. She has vowed to continue fighting against discriminatory policies in the Australian club scene. Ms James described her experience as "horrific". Ms James says the tattoos are an integral part of her Papua New Guinea heritage and have been passed down from generation to generation.
