Setting Up Your Arris Router
If you're new to Arris routers or need a refresher on the setup process, follow these steps:
Unboxing and Initial Connections
Begin by unboxing your Arris router and ensuring you have all the necessary components: the router itself, power adapter, and Ethernet cables. Connect the router to a power source and use an Ethernet cable to link it to your modem.
Accessing the Router Interface
Open a web browser on a device connected to the network, and in the address bar, type in the default gateway IP address provided by Arris. This will usually be something like
192.168.0.1or192.168.1.1. You will be prompted to enter a username and password (usually found on a sticker on the router).Configuring Basic Settings
Once logged in, you'll have access to the router's settings. Set up a unique network name (SSID) and a strong password. Make sure to choose WPA2-PSK (AES) as your security mode for enhanced protection.
Enabling Guest Network (Optional)
Some Arris routers allow you to set up a guest network, which provides a separate Wi-Fi network for visitors. This can help maintain the security of your main network.
Arris Router Without WPS Button
If your Arris router doesn't have a WPS button, don't worry! You can still connect devices manually. Follow these steps:
Manual Device Connection
To connect a device without using WPS, access the router interface as described earlier. Locate the Wi-Fi settings and select "Add Device" or "Manual Connection." This will generate a network key (password) that you can enter on your device.
Entering the Network Key
On your device, go to the Wi-Fi settings and select the network name (SSID) of your Arris router. When prompted, enter the network key generated in the previous step. This will establish a secure connection.
