Local Issuer Certificate

Secure Socket Layers use strong encryption, or SSL, to protect browser-server communication.

An SSL certificate's primary functions are to confirm website authentication and secure data sent between a server and a browser. When sending a cURL request to an HTTPS site, you could occasionally be prompted for your SSL certificate as identity verification. While performing this, you can get the error "Unable to Get local issuer certificate." This problem indicates that the root certificate is not functioning correctly when a client requests an HTTPS source.
